Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors, On behalf of the team of the of the Cambridge Model United Nation 2018, it is a great honour to invite you to the 7th session of CAMUN 2018. CAMUN is a three day event and will be held from the Thursday January 18 to Saturday January 20, 2018 and is open to students age 13 and above.
Praised by the UN resident coordinator and featured in the National newspaper, our conference has been planned meticulously to ensure that participants enjoy their experience as they face the challenges of international diplomacy while they debate and discuss issues that affect the world today. Our wonderful team of experienced student organisers are happy to help with any problems you may encounter The theme for our conference is “Combatting the Threat of International Conflicts”. As UN Charter states their aim is “to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war,…to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights,…to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom”.
We aim to explore the measures that can be taken to ensure the safety, taking into account the physical and mental consequences that fall on these bystanders and to achieve the simple means of communication and trust as we strive to reach the goals of saving as many lives as possible. With this theme as our main focus, we can work towards ridding the fear that arises with the idea of combat and what we, as a community, along with the forces of the United Nations are able to achieve in order to take control of this issue.
Application for CAMUN 2018 is now open! In the words of Ban Ki-moon, “As the young leaders of tomorrow, you have the passion and energy and commitment to make a difference. What I’d like to really urge you to do is to have a global vision. Go beyond your country; go beyond your national boundaries”.
